Day 1 – Central Park

American Robin – 21^st May – Central Park (Near entrance on south side). Numerous throughout

Blue Jay – 21^st May – Central Park (Near West Drive). Numerous throughout

Northern Cardinal – 21^st May – Central Park (Near Umpire Rock). Numerous throughout

Baltimore Oriole – 21^st May – Central Park (Near Umpire Rock). Plentiful

Chipping Sparrow – 21^st May – Central Park (Near Umpire Rock). A handful seen

Swainson’s Thrush – 21^st May – Central Park (Near Umpire Rock). Plentiful

Cedar Waxwing – 21^st May – Central Park (Near the terrace). Numerous throughout

House Finch – 21^st May – Central Park (On the path towards Bethesda fountain). Male showing well and gathering nesting material. 5 seen in total – all males.

Chimney Swift – 21^st May – Central Park (Flying overhead). Numerous throughout

Cape May Warbler – 21^st May – Central Park (In pines near East Drive). Female feeding in pines. Only one of the trip.

Magnolia Warbler – 21^st May – Central Park (In pines near East Drive). Male feeding in pines. All males seen – plentiful.

Warbling Vireo – 21^st May – Central Park (In trees near East Drive). Two singing in trees behind the path. Several individuals seen throughout.

Common Grackle – 21^st May – Central Park (On field near East Drive). Numerous throughout

Mourning Dove – 21^st May – Central Park (In trees near East Drive). Numerous throughout

Downy Woodpecker – 21^st May – Central Park (In tree next to the lake). Several seen throughout

Blackpoll Warbler – 21^st May – Central Park (In trees at front of lake path). Males and females seen – plentiful.

Gray Catbird – 21^st May – Central Park (In flight near the lake). Numerous throughout

Song Sparrow – 21^st May – Central Park (On grassy patch by the lake). A few seen throughout.

Red-winged Blackbird – 21^st May – Central Park (Flying near the lake). Numerous throughout

Common Yellowthroat – 21^st May – Central Park (Under trees near Robert Wagner Cove). Males and females seen – numerous.

White-throated Sparrow – 21^st May – Central Park (Near lakeside edge of Robert Wagner Cove). One of two seen on the trip.

Swamp Sparrow – 21^st May – Central Park (Near lakeside edge of Robert Wagner Cove). One of two seen on the trip.

Canada Warbler – 21^st May – Central Park (In trees at edge of lake near the ladies pavilion). One of three seen on the trip.

Chestnut-sided Warbler – 21^st May – Central Park (In trees at edge of lake near the ladies pavilion). One of three seen on the trip – males and female seen.

Northern Flicker – 21^st May – Central Park (The Ramble). One of several seen throughout.

Day 2 – Central Park

Red-eyed Vireo – 22^nd May – Central Park (In trees by Artisans Gate). Plentiful throughout.

American Redstart – 22^nd May – Central Park (Cherry Hill). Males and females seen – most numerous warbler.

Black-throated Blue Warbler – 22^nd May – Central Park (Cherry Hill). Female in shrubs below. One of a handful of females seen – only 1 male on the trip.

Red-bellied Woodpecker – 22^nd May – Central Park (In garden area at Robert Wagner Cove). One of a handful seen on the trip.

Olive-sided Flycatcher – 22^nd May – Central Park (Strawberry Fields by West Drive). One of 3 seen on the trip.

Black-capped Chickadee – 22^nd May – Central Park (The Ramble). Only one of the trip.

Black and White Warbler – 22^nd May – Central Park (Captains Bench at The Ramble). Male and females seen – one of four seen on the trip.

Northern Parula– 22^nd May – Central Park (Captains Bench at The Ramble). Males seen – plentiful and several seen throughout.

Gray-cheeked Thrush – 22^nd May – Central Park (The Ramble). Plentiful throughout

Blackburnian Warbler – 22^nd May – Central Park (In trees above the feeding station in The Ramble). One of three males seen on the trip.

Wood Thrush – 22^nd May – Central Park (On path near the Source of the Gill). One of three seen on the trip.

Yellow-bellied Flycatcher – 22^nd May – Central Park (In trees above the feeding station in The Ramble). Only one of the trip.

Double-crested Cormorant – 22^nd May – Central Park (On the reservoir). Numerous throughout.

Eastern Towhee– 22^nd May – Central Park (near the feeding station in The Ramble). One of six of the trip.

Northern Waterthrush – 22^nd May – Central Park (Bank Rock Bay). One of a handful seen on the trip.

Hermit Thrush – 22^nd May – Central Park (Strawberry Fields). Only one of the trip – very late record.

Bay-breasted Warbler – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (Mid-wood). Female, and one of three seen. Males and females observed.

Great Crested Flycatcher – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (Mid-wood). One of two seen on the trip.

Lincoln’s Sparrow – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (Mid-wood). On the path. One of two seen.

Black-throated Green Warbler – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (Mid-wood). Near the stream. Males and females seen, but only in that location. Around 4 present.

Scarlet Tanager – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (Mid-wood). Near the stream. Male.

Tennessee Warbler – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (Mid-wood). Near the stream. Male and the only one of the trip.

Nashville Warbler – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (Mid-wood). Near the stream. Female seen twice – one of two on the trip.

Green Heron – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (Near Lullwater bridge from the Audobon Centre Boathouse). One of two seen on the trip.

Tree Swallow – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (The Lake). Several seen at waterside locations.

Eastern Kingbird – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (Wellhouse Drive). One of several seen throughout.

Yellow Warbler – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (Falkill Bridge). One of several seen throughout. Makes and females seen.

Wood Duck – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (Upper Pool). 3 males seen. 7 individuals seen on the trip, with both males and one female observed.

White-breasted Nuthatch – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (Mid-wood near East Drive). Pair with possible nest. One of three seen on the trip.

American Goldfinch – 23^rd May – Prospect Park (Vale of Cashmere). Only one of the trip.

Black Vulture – 24^th May – Doodletown (Seen from the road – Palisades Interstate Parkway). Several seen throughout the day.

Northern Mockingbird – 24^th May – Doodletown (North Route 9W). Seen from the road parking. One of several seen throughout.

Indigo Bunting – 24^th May – Doodletown (North Route 9W). Seen from the road parking. One of four seen.

Turkey Vulture – 24^th May – Doodletown (Seen by the entrance). One of several seen.

Great Blue Heron – 24^th May – Doodletown (Seen near the brook by the parking area). One of three seen on the trip.

Cerulean Warbler – 24^th May – Doodletown (Seen from the main trail). Two males seen in total.

Blue-winged Warbler – 24^th May – Doodletown (Seen from the main trail). Male - only one of the trip.

Yellow-throated Vireo – 24^th May – Doodletown (Seen in trees lining the main trail). Only one of the trip.

Hooded Warbler – 24^th May – Doodletown (Seen from the main trail). Three males seen in total.

Blue-grey Gnatcatcher – 24^th May – Doodletown (Seen from the main trail. Only two of the trip.

Pileated Woodpecker – 24^th May – Doodletown (Seen from the main trail). Flew overhead at close range on the trail – only one of the trip.

Eastern Phoebe – 24^th May – Doodletown (Near the small bridge over the brook). Two, possible nest. 

Kentucky Warbler – 24^th May – Doodletown (Seen in trees just past the small bridge over the brook). Male singing – only one of the trip.

Eastern Wood Peewee – 24^th May – Doodletown (In trees just past the small bridge and brook). Calling from a branch.

Worm-eating Warbler – 24^th May – Doodletown (In trees up the hillside path just past the small bridge and brook). Calling and showing on the branch above. Only one of the trip.

Eastern Bluebird – 24^th May – Doodletown (On the high up trail). Landed in the tree before flying off. Only one of the trip.

Yellow-billed Cuckoo– 24^th May – Doodletown (In trees by the reservoir). Feeding in the trees above. Only one of the trip.

Brown-headed Cowbird – 24^th May – Doodletown (In shrubs by the reservoir). Nesting. One of several seen on the trip – both males and females seen.

American Crow – 24^th May – Doodletown (Flying near the reservoir). Calling. One of two birds – the only ones of the trip.

Ruby-throated Hummingbird– 24^th May – Doodletown (In trees by the reservoir). Male, also seen at Jamaica Bay!

Least Tern – 24^th May – Plumb Beach (West end). 9 seen fishing in the shallows.

American Oystercatcher – 24^th May – Plumb Beach (West end) One of a handful on the trip.

Black Skimmer – 24^th May – Plumb Beach (East end) Flock of 30+ individuals resting on a sandbank. Also in flight.

American Herring Gull – 24^th May – Plumb Beach (East end). Flock on the sand. Several throughout the trip.

Other birds: Common Grackle, Red-tailed Hawk, American Redstart, Cedar Waxwing, Red-eyed Vireo, Blackpoll Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Northern Cardinal, Chipping Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Nashville Warbler. Mockingbird, Double-crested Cormorant.

Day 6 – Niagara Falls

Northern Rough-winged Swallow – 26^th May – Niagara Falls (Over the American Falls). Several showing well during the day.

Bald Eagle – 26^th May – Niagara Falls (Robert Mores Parkway). Flying overhead low down as seen from inside the taxi.

Hairy Woodpecker – 28^th May – Inwood Hill Park (In dead tree off the main path from the Isham Street entrance. Showing well and calling – the only one of the trip.

Tufted Titmouse – 28^th May – Inwood Hill Park (In ivy tree, off the main path from the Isham Street entrance showing briefly). 2 others previously though not seen well enough.

Rose-breasted Grosbeak – 28^th May – Inwood Hill Park (In trees above ridge off the main path from the Isham Street entrance). Male singing, only one of the trip.

American Kestrel – 28^th May – Inwood Hill Park (Flying on Isham Street). One of 4 seen – two previously not seen well enough.

Boat-tailed Grackle – 29^th May – Jamaica Bay (West Pond – Black Wall Marsh). Several seen throughout the day.

Semi-palmated Sandpiper – 29^th May – Jamaica Bay (West Pond). Small flock at close quarters at the Hurricane Sandy breach.

Brown Thrasher – 29^th May – Jamaica Bay (West Pond trail). One of three birds showing well and singing.

Forster’s Tern – 29^th May – Jamaica Bay (West Pond). One of several birds seen well throughout the day.

Northern Harrier – 29^th May – Jamaica Bay (West Pond Trail by the North Garden). Ringtail flying overhead. Only bird of the trip.

White-eyed Vireo – 29^th May – Jamaica Bay (West Pond Trail by the North Garden). Showing well in the trees low down. Only one of the trip.

Fish Crow – 29^th May – Jamaica Bay (West Pond Trail). Calling – one of several flying over during the day.

Black Duck – 29^th May – Jamaica Bay (West Pond). Up to four birds seen during the day.

Willet – 29^th May – Jamaica Bay (West Pond). 3 birds showing well on the pool.

Tricoloured Heron – 29^th May – Jamaica Bay (West Pond). Flying then landed at the water’s edge. Only bird of the trip.

Little Blue Heron – 29^th May – Jamaica Bay (West Pond). Flying and circling over West Pond. Only bird of the trip.

Semi-palmated Plover – 29^th May – Jamaica Bay (West Pond). Showing at the edge of the pond. Only bird of the trip.
